Habits We're Adopting in 2017

Sunday, 1 January 2017

What better time of the year to create a cheesy blog-post than now? Ahh! The start of a fresh, new year. It's that time again, when we fill up our notebooks with all sorts of goals, resolutions and habits we are dying to kick out of our daily routines or our lives in general.

Following the theme of the beautiful New Year, Anniedora Etiobi and I share certain habits and resolutions we have mapped out for ourselves and for our readers to motivate, inspire and uplift the soul this year!

MORE MEDITATION

Taking a moment out of the day to reflect and communicate with God surely never hurt anyone.

LEAVE THE PAST IN THE PAST

You do not have the ability to time travel. The past is behind you for a reason and will always remain behind you.

Leave it there. Instead, work on correcting your wrongs, time heals and you're not excluded.

TRUST YOUR GUTS

Your intuition is definitely correct more times than you think. If you find yourself unusually second-guessing a situation.

Chances are, your guts are right and you should steer yourself in the right direction

KEEP YOUR CIRCLE SMALL AND SAY GOODBYE TO TOXIC FRIENDSHIPS

As much as it can be interesting meeting new people, and maintaining friendships.

It's so important to take a step back and ask yourself if this relationship with your friend, your SO, or even a family member is building you both up and not the harmful opposite.

YOU'RE DOING GREAT, CHAMP!

It's perfectly normal to get exhausted. Take a break! But don't throw in the towel so easily.

DIVE INTO YOUR CREATIVE JUICES

We know lots of times, we get super busy that we neglect our other talents and hobbies. Making out time to act on ways that we express creativity either through writing, photography, music, etc. is definitely something we're working on this year...and you should too!

CONTENTMENT

Over the years, I found that we as humans are often insatiable. This lack of contentment can lead to envy, greed, anger, etc. without realizing that all that glitters is not gold. Growing an appreciative heart is a stepping stone to happiness and satisfaction.

SAVE, SAVE, SAVE

In this period of recession in Nigeria, people who made "saving for the rainy day" a habit in the past without doubt have no regrets. It's never too late to start saving up as much Naira as you can now. Buying in bulk is not a bad idea as we can't even predict the economy anymore.

LEARN YOUR SELF-WORTH AND FALL MADLY IN LOVE WITH YOURSELF

You're worth it, don't you forget that and don't allow anyone tell you or make you feel like you're less.

TUNNEL VISION

Now, I mean Tunnel Vision in the most unselfish way possible. Learn that you are enough, seriously stop looking around and stop comparing yourself to other people!

BE YOUR OWN CHEERLEADER

You can't always expect your friends and family to give you words of encouragement. Be your own support system, even though it may not be so easy every time. Do more things that make YOU happy!

Sow the seed of happiness in your soul and watch yourself blossom this year.

She definitely wouldn't shy away from anything food related, especially shawarma *wink wink*.
