Postcards From Igarra + Contributions From Nebe

Wednesday, 14 December 2016

I know a million and one jokes are dancing around in your head about the State of Edo and the never-ending myths that go with it. I recall everything from the concerned looks from family members and friends when I informed them that my entire Geo-sciences class and I were "busing" off to Igarra (a little town in the northern part of Edo State, Nigeria) for two whole weeks; to Nebe boldly declaring, "Witchcraft!" as the official occupation of the local people (which of course our lecturer didn't take quite well).

The landscape was DEFINITELY something to fawn over and our camera lenses were yearning to capture every single shot from landforms to our classmates to the greens. But unfortunately there wasn't enough time to satisfy our lenses as we were in Igarra for intense schoolwork and independent field mapping exercises...did I hear someone yawn?

Great news! Whether neck-deep in schoolwork, falling face flat on a pathway mid-forest, or nearly swallowing live maggots squirming in shabbily-cooked fish *YIKES*... we were able to jumble up photos from our day-to-day trudging and prancing around in deep vegetation.

So now what are you waiting for?! Get those happy thumbs moving and feel free to shuffle through our postcards!
